Praxent

We are remote, for real

Work wherever you want, when you want. You won’t be penalized for operating out of office. On our Careers Site, you can find this statement alongside our perks and associated with the remote-first culture that we stand up for.

But, what do we exactly mean by remote-first? We invited Carolina and Juliana, two of our newest team members, to share with us their own experiences and walk us through their day-to-day remote-first life.

Based in Latin America, Carolina and Juliana joined Praxent in 2021, and in the past few months, they have been taking full advantage of their new remote lifestyle.

Could you tell us a bit more about your role and responsibilities?

Carolina: I am one of the newest recruiters at Praxent. Among my responsibilities, I get to meet amazing people every day and learn about their experiences, who they are as professionals while developing good relationships with them. I am also responsible for looking for and finding hidden gems who can potentially be part of this team.

Juliana: I work in the Marketing & Sales department so my week has a bit of everything, never get bored! I try to find the best ways to capture the amazing job our design and development teams do on the project we’re working on, put together case studies, sales decks, and run social media also.

How did you decide to start working remotely?

Carolina: 3 years ago I started working from home but not fully remote.  I had some flexibility, sometimes I was able to work for a short period of time from a different location but it was very limited. A few months ago, I learned about the opportunity of working for Praxent, a remote-first company, where I had more flexibility to travel temporarily to different places where I would feel motivated to work from.

Juliana: I kind of always worked on a flexible schedule and did a lot of business trips so I was used to working from different locations. Still, it’s a different experience working for a remote-first company with a flexible schedule. The tools provided and culture differ between those opportunities. A few months ago, I decided to make a change and pursue remote opportunities and that’s how I discovered Praxent’s open position. I felt completely excited about the idea and possibility of working for a fast-growing company, full of challenges and still be able to do it remotely.

Do you feel like having personally benefited yourself from working at Praxent and its remote-first culture?

Carolina: For the first time I don’t feel attached to a city or a country whenever I don’t have PTO. During this difficult time that we are living as a society because of COVID, Praxent has given me the freedom to run and attend to any family situation especially when they are all spread around the world. Right now, work goes with me anywhere without leaving my responsibilities behind and I can be just as efficient as I am working from an office or from home.

Juliana: I’d say yes, especially because of the sense of freedom that I get when I can decide where I want to work from and when. I’m a huge coffee fan so I have come up with a list of nice cafes that I would like to visit in my neighborhood so I don’t just work from home and instead get to know new places every week.

What’s the #1 thing you like about being able to work from anywhere?

Carolina: Visiting amazing places while bringing my job with me! My last trip was to New York to see my sister who I hadn’t seen in more than a year. During the 20 days, I was able to take full advantage of weekends and afternoons to visit the city. Soon I will be going to the Netherlands for a couple of weeks, and during this time I will make sure to arrange my days in a way that the time difference doesn’t affect my work.

Juliana: Huge savings on airplane tickets! You can avoid the weekends, the holidays, you can just get the best flights as it doesn’t matter which day you’re flying. As long as it doesn’t interfere with getting the job done, you’re good to go! I spent a few days in Bariloche as I wanted to hit the slopes during the weekends, so it was good being able to work from there. I’ll be in New York by the end of September and in Mexico by January.
