Nation’s Largest Safety Council Supports 1M+ Annual Course Registrations with Redesigned Member Portal
Our site redesign significantly improved user experience, and provided scalability to support HASC’s 30% year-over-year growth, driven by an ever-expanding catalog of courses and service offerings. In addition to the forward-facing site, we also optimized tools to make corresponding backend processes run smoother.

Versatile Online Registration Platform for Training Courses
The Houston Area Safety Council (HASC) provides mission-critical training services and safety-related records management, serving as a resource for both facility owners and contractors.
HASC is the sole safety training provider for Houston’s largest owner facilities, and offers site-specific and client-specific training, plus professional development courses. Training is offered as both hands-on classroom training and computer-based training. In addition to online services for registration and certification lookup, HASC also offers other services to enhance safety and assist with certification records management.
Despite its success, HASC sought to offer the best experience possible to its clients and owners. HASC came to Praxent for help improving its registration site, to support long-term growth and enable the council to reach its full potential.

Rebuilt External-Facing Web Applications To Enhance User Registration Experience
Leveraging modern visual design and mobile responsive layouts, we made major improvements to the user experience on the HASC website. The improved experience dramatically reduces the effort required to register employees for hands-on, classroom, and computer-based training. It also opens the door for increased registrations to take place on the platform. The new site improves the experience by:
- Highlighting common courses, allowing users to save training packages, or course bundles, promoting optional courses, and recommending related courses
- Bringing clinic registration to the forefront, and making registration for services easy for clinic-only clients
- Increasing the visibility of optional professional development courses on the site
By enabling clients to easily manage their rosters and providing notifications of expiring certifications, the platform now allows for certification management. These efforts open the door for increased training and clinic registrations, as well as other professional development courses. They also support new industry expansion and partnerships with third-party content providers.

Scalable Design To Support Ongoing Growth
By implementing a scalable visual design, the site is now equipped to support the ongoing, rapid growth the council is experiencing, ultimately enabling ongoing innovation. While HASC does not track client satisfaction as a quantitative metric, it has received a steady stream of compliments on the new site experience. The site enables member organizations to be more efficient and proactive in managing compliance for contractors, which in turn increases workplace safety.
HASC has grown 30% this year in course registrations, due in part to an increase in activity in the Oil and Gas industry. HASC believes the new site also helped support this growth by making courses easier to locate and register for.
